Warrior PVP Tactics:
With a warrior you’re going to die unless you have a healer. Come to terms with that. But it’s ok. No BG is lost because you die and you don’t lose honor so who gives a crap. You do get honor for honorable kills though; this basically means if you hit someone and they die, you get honor for contributing to their deaths. So your goal should be to hit as many people as possible and ensure that between you and your team they end up dead. As a warrior you’re ineffective as a caster or ranged attacker. This means you’re going to have to get close to everything you kill. This also means that the things you get close to will be attacking you first and foremost because you are the immediate threat. No one likes a warrior wailing away at them.
Knowing that you’re going to be in the middle of things is key; as is knowing that the gaggle of casters you just stormed into are now all going to attack you is also key. You’re going to take damage and lots of it. That’s ok as long as you are drawing the fire away from your team. What this allows is for the rest of your team to come in and attack the casters that are trying to kill you. Essentially your caster friends should be able to get off 1-3 solid damaging spells before the caster realizes they are not taking damage from you. Now that they’ve killed you they can finally focus on killing the true attacker…but wait, they don’t have the life to do it and your casters can now destroy them with ease.
PVE translating into PVP. Warriors are great tanks in PVE this works for PVP as well because of the potential for a warrior to take so much damage. When worked correctly, casters should be running behind warriors finishing off whoever the warrior is attacking, utilizing the warrior as a tank. It’s a thankless job really and not glamorous at all, but it is very rewarding…honor wise at least. While you’re taking and dishing an ass whoopin, you’re team is cleaning up. If there is a healer in your ranks it’s even better. A warrior with a healer is not something any opponent wants to see in a battleground. I’ve personally killed (killing blows) over 50 people in an Arathia basin bg with the help of a caster. 1 on 1, 1 on 2, 1 on 4. With a good healer and a warrior it can be easily done.
Just remember as a warrior in pre 70 bg’s your goal is to hit hard, hit often, cause panic, mischief and mayhem. Intimidating shout, howling cry, concussion blow, or if you’re fury and duel wielding and find a good group of casters to jump into, try hitting your recklessness, the whirlwind, then sweeping strike, then whirlwind. I’ve single handedly ended a group of 6 casters with a tactic similar to this. I believe I tossed in an intimidating shout somewhere in there:)
Happy Hunting
